The Somali National handball women’s team and men’s national handball team are under going daily training sessions in preparations for the upcoming Zone 5 Men and women challenge trophy 2012 to be held in Djibouti from 5 to 13th of April this year. According to Somali handball federation the two teams have been under going their preparations for the past month and will continue their daily training sessions until they will fly to Djibouti on 3rd of April. In a bid to encourage the teams Somali national Olympic committee secretary General Abdullahi Ahmed Tarabi and Somali handball federation president Mohamed Hurshe Hassan visited the women’s team at their training base on Thursday afternoon, while they met with the men’s team during their training sessions on Saturday morning. Somali handball federation president Mohamed Hurshe Hassan told the meeting that Somalia along with Djibouti, Sudan and Ethiopia will play in Djibouti while, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Burundi will compete in Kenya. “You are carrying the name and the flag of Somalia on your backs, the nation’s hopes rest on you and we are very confident that you will show a wonder in the upcoming competitions” Somali NOC secretary General Abdullahi Ahmed Tarabi told both men’s and women’s handball teams. “I know you are working under very hard circumstances, but we hope that changes will occur and the country will regain its lost peace and stability---the history will mention you and other young people who represented their nation in difficult times” the Somali NOC secretary General told both men’s and women’s national handball teams.
